Method development
Nick Snow
Abstract The main advantages of split injection make it the technique that most method development efforts in gas chromatography start with:
It is appropriate for concentrated or “neat” samples, requiring less additional sample preparation
It avoids negative solvent effects that are common in other injection techniques
It generates very sharp initial bands in the column, providing the best chromatographic resolution.
